A question re Internet connection recognition upon install of Linux

Hi all,

I would like to start by saying how very useful I have found this excellent guide/site.

I have a simple question, I am about to install the very latest release of Mint (an Ubuntu based distro)into a dual boot setup with my current Vista, and just wanted to ask, will it recognise my broadband internet connection during the install??

I am using a wired connection to my router (simple ethernet cable) and am not really interested in a wireless one as I don't need it.

I ask because for Windows I think there has to be the wretched AOL software/connectivity service/drivers installed.
