Hey Frank.
Can you explain your setup a little more? For example how is it all laid out? The most common set up for cable internet (eg fibre to your door, not DSL) would be Wall socket to Cable Modem device, then from cable modem to a router (eg wifi router etc), then from router to your PC via an ethernet cable, or if you have a laptop via wifi.
Can you let me know exactly how you are all hooked up and I'll see what I can do to help.
Perhaps also can you tell me if your system is getting an IP address at all. The easiest way to do this is just to go to Applications>Accessories>terminal and type ifconfig . Copy and paste the results back into here and I can see if your machine is getting an IP address from the router. We should be able to get somewhere with that!.
Cheers,
Ali
